What happens when you have a huge forest FILLED with small useless pines in mid Arizona? OOPS!!!!! As the airplane comes up over Diablo Pass and the Southern most flank of the Bradshaw Mountains, we find the early rays of morning mixing with crew spotlights and a cloud of smoke... [oops] There's not too much of the forest left. The groundcover has been reduced to nothing... We make a quick pass over the rail line, as we turn back... Looking back, we see that there's really nothing left to worry about anymore. I finished the hill tonight, I don;t have plasterclother, so I have to go back later and finish this hill properly. A mining building will go in the palce of the Brick prop, (they found gold in the mountain when they made the cut), while a mining road would go throughthe cut in the hill...if that railroad indeed still exists, I haven;t made up my mind. All the same, I might go back with ash instead of the green lichen on the trees and ground cover...it looks eiriely right. I also am debating painting on a mountian backdrop, following the pattern of the light. If I could get the shading right, it would look nice. [ February 20, 2006, 08:11 AM: Message edited by: Benny ]
Benny- You drew attention to the fire. I immediately looked at the contours of the slope in the third picture. Other than filling in the gap in the ridge near the top, I think it is perfectly done.
(It was an Accident!) As was putting in the burnt forest, I stuck one in straight form the box and said WHOA!
That must be what they mean by a happy accident! Perfect setting for some of Smokey's friends. I'll admit to being a little jelous of you HO guys in one area; Bolley Forest Service trucks.
