    Corey,
You are right, they ARE a half breed! They're not fully SD-70ACE's nor SD-70MAC's....

A mix of the 2 engine breeds all in one, with alittle of the ACE's, an alittle of the old MAC's.

I wouldn't mind seeing CSX with a few SD-70ACE's tho! I love the flaired radiator looks! Makes them look mean, I'm not one for the sleek look as they were.... Gives the body, some dimention!

I surely do like the look of the GE, C-44's an the C44AC's, and the C60AC, I like the look of the C60AC's tho. I want to get my hands on a good powered Athearn C44AC, an just a body to one as well, to kitbash a C60AC. And then the special CSX paint, with the yellow lettering outlined in blue..... I liked the looks of that paint scheme! :D But, this is a future kitbash.....

I have seen a few of the new 70macs up here. Someone referred to them as SD70mace or something like that.

My only comment is that I like them better than the C40-8w's and the AC44-6's they seem to be replacing on the boston line.

One other note, it could be an optical illusion, but the CSX initials look smaller on the front.

The nose lettering is smaller compared to other units. I think the larger type looks better myself.

You guys are complaining about that "dark blue dip job" that CSX has gone to- here in Sherman, we have an ex-CSX SD45-2 (now owned by Helm), leased to DGNO in the blue and (mostly) gray. How uninspiring is that?

For the record, I like the "Bright Future" paint job too. I see 'em every now & then on UP freights up in Ray Yard at Denison.- They make a pleasant break from all that yellow & gray.

Here are two photos to illustrate the change in the nose lettering on YN3 painted units.

    Here's a craptacular shot of the nose of a new SD70MAC, 4726 at Sterling, Ohio on January 6, 2004. FM-10, 135mm f/2.8 AIS, Provia 100F.

Vey nice shots Brian! I like the shot with the new SD-70AC! And the SD-60I is looking good too!

Where'd you snap the shot of the new AC ? I haven't seen any of them on Sand Patch yet.... But then, I think they all went your way, or close to it....

Sterling, Ohio on the New Castle Subdivision.

I was in Cumberland last weekend and probably saw a dozen of 'em around town.

Thanks Brian! I was wondering! I been looking for them every time I'm in Cumberland... But that hasn't been recently, the weathers really been bad so. I been staying in doors an working in the shop....

Where did you happen to see them all tho? out along the road by the hump or just spread all around in the Cumberland limits?

I caught my first picture of one of these units last week... it was on the point of the northbound juice train... early morning sun, not the best light, but it is O.K. I'll post a copy here

    Harold,
Still a nice shot tho! And with that C-60AC in the back with the Bright Future II on it makes one wonder how a SD-70AC would look with the same, or close the same Bright Future I! :D

Maybe this should be a different thread, but is HO tower still open. I was down that way in fall 2000 and caught the local backing down the branch there. "R" tower had been recently closed. Just wondering
