A little while back I posted a thread titled “ what would you do ? “. In this thread we discussed my reluctance to model a bridge that washed out and caused the demise of the prototype of my DAV&P . The end result of that discussion was that because most of my efforts of trying to accurately model The DAV&P, that I should fallow threw with this bridge. It was pointed out that the bridge wasn’t the real cause of the demise of the railroad. More like the water that washed it out or the railroad officials that decide not to spend the money an replace the bridge. THANK YOU CONRAIL! So I decided that I would faithfully model the bridge. With the holiday season came our companies holiday bonus. This translated into funds for more track. I will not say how much was spent, this is a closely guarded secret as if the Moore family federal government found out, I’d have to answer some serious questions as to these purchases. Some eighty feet ( 80 ‘ ) of track and 4 switches later and now my layout is 85% track in place. Below are the pictures of the unpainted and painted bridge as it looked just before the washout, or as close as my molding skills will allow. You might note that there will be a creek and some land with bridge abutments add at a later date.
Viewing your site sure makes me want to stop spending all of my train budget money on rolling stock and start making scenery for my G scale, it's just so hard to stop, you figure I'll just get scenery next year, then the next year comes and you say the same thing, 9 years later, I only have 3 buildings sad but true.
I love that bridge~ That's the bridge I want for part of my table layout (When It gets built/rebuilt).
