We are seeing people bringing politics into conversations here on TrainBoard, both overtly and some which are sliding theirs in less obviously, yet deliberately. A reminder that no matter where you are on this site, politics, excepting within a railroad historical context, are strictly prohibited.

Let us please keep TrainBoard a peaceful refuge from the pressures of life outside of our hobby.

    Thank you.

"Peaceful refuge" is a very apt description. Unlike social media, Trainboard is actually social. There is sharing of accomplishments and ideas. People are helpful. That's a greatly appreciated rarity in this day and age and should be respected and guarded by all of us.

What people tend to forget, sometimes 'forgetting' conveniently, is that nobody makes up rules because they have nothing else to do. The rules are posted because they represent an evolution in experience. They are meant to forestall undesirable behaviours.

Makes me feel old that I remember a time when politics could be and was (not every time) discussed rationally.

We need to discuss politics rationally. Desperately.

I am sure you'd get no disagreement. But, just not here on TrainBoard.

The only person I talk politics to is Cynthia to keep from stepping on somebody's toes. We are on the same page.

There is a reason for the saying "You do not talk politics or religion in polite company"

I have it based on questionably reliable sources that the word comes from two separate Greek words- "poly, meaning many; and "ticks", meaning blood-sucking parasites.

    So I've been told..........;) :D

It's only half wrong. But it's 100% true nonetheless. And it gets less funny every week.

The workers don't think so. They think it's about survival.

    Just sayin'.

Yes. We are talking about historical railroad employer-employee (private sector) labor relations. General societal (public sector/governmental) politics is a completely different discussion.

Meh. If you can't talk about anything the federal government has got its grubby fingers in these days, you can't talk about anything at all.

There was a time when that wasn't true, a civilized age. But we might as well face facts. We can't even talk about that past itself; this government's out to rewrite history.
