Just slightley modified ;-) Great little engine. I have to show another slightley modified SW1 in a week or too...
I did this little SW-1 "conversion" to illustrate one of the many options to create phantasy models, also to study clearances, proportions, running characteristics and pulling power. If there are enough interest, I can make a simple budget priced brass kit of the same shell. There is room for an engineer (if you didn't see it in the video clip, look again :0), so you can have a unique, "real" engineer operatad, smooth, powerful, hard working small switcher on your yard. I'm constantly receiving positive feedbacks about the power, reliability and quality of the chassis, if you don't have one yet, get one or two from L.G.Thek Brasswork or Stonebridge Models soon. You'll like it.
Wonder if a EMD model 40 will fit on that chassis? http://trainiax.net/drawings/emd/emdmodel40.gif http://www.trainmaster.ch/X-021.htm
Z? No. Nn3 for sure. But there are some prototypes asking for helping hands to become Z-scale models, like the GE 35t http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=70740, or this classis boxcab http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/prr3906.jpg http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/prr3907.jpg
Do you have drawings of that PRR unit? Looks like some of the stuff they used to switch the docks in NYC. I like this one too: http://members.trainweb.com/bedt/indloco/prrn4lirr403a2.jpg http://members.trainweb.com/bedt/indloco/prrn4.html Started to build one in N once, but got fed up with #80 drill bits that day and quit...
No, but I've collected many good photos and started to scale them http://members.trainweb.com/bedt/indloco/prrn4lirr403a2.jpg I like it too, one of my favorite boxcab, it's on my not so short list. Here is the photo of the original coupled 403A-B http://sbiii.com/boxpix/li403-ts.jpg
Here is a photo of the slightly modified SW-1. The new name is SW-00, and to compare this little beast to a quarter, the new name is well deserved. I've received a few positive responds to work on the development of a brass shell kit, so I started to work with numbers. The retail price for the brass shell kit is $35.00, but I need a few more kicks to move my lazy rear end closer to my computer and get the work done. It's up to you guyZ...
For my first post on trainboard, I would like to that this is awesome! I would definably be up for one at 35.00 dollars. This falls in line with my plan for a small z scale switching layout. Barry
Barry, Welcome to the asylum we call Z scale and Trainboard too! Where are you from? Home layout or modular (Z Bend)? Put me down for one of these too, Lajos. Room for a Z-2 in there too? And Barry, you do know the $35 is just the shell, right?
Heck, count me in! $35 via what ever methode you need Gerd. That's going to look great on the spurs ! .
Uh Jeff, that Lajos' little gem, not Gerd's. Although I can't wait to see one after Gerd gets his hands on one. After seeing this shell at Ontario, I knew I needed two myself. And maybe a third for future bash-ing. Come on guys, you'll kick yourself later if you don't get one. James
Yes, I am aware that it is a shell only. I have been planning on getting the mech. and have just been waiting for a shell.I am from Portland, OR and am building a small home layout.
