Just finished insulating the garage. Sheetrock work will commence next week. Still on schedule. [IMG]

By the way Mr Plant, I just got my paws on another tiger stripe GP50. Think I'll be keeping em both as I will probably stay with N Scale [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Vernon, first you absolutely must clean the floor, sweep and vacuum it. Then you have to lay deep plush carpet wall to wall. Along one wall you want a work bench with a drill press, lathe, milling machine, band saw, belt sander, and most important, a good hammer. The wet bar goes at the end of the room space. The stereo connects the two corners, with the 42" TV mounted above. You need at least two strato-lounger chairs with side tables, and cool blue light with dimmers. When you get that far, call us and we'll all be glad to come visit and tell you how many nails to use and how to run your railroad. No problem! You can thank us later. [IMG]

I think it was the last time I flew through the air feet first and landed in the alley!
I sobered up and they let me out, but I had time to think about your layout thingy.
Since I'm not too fond of serious labor, I made 2x4 foot frames (modules) where I could, and other sizes where I just had to. Then I glued 1x4's into a sort of picture frame, which gave me 3/4" on the top to glue a sheet of 1/2" plywood onto for the flat areas like yards and the roundhouse area. The others I left open so I could add cross members where and when I will need them for mountains etc. Then I cut enough legs to put four on each of about half of the modules. I put one 1/4-20 hex head cap screw thru the side and leg (1-1/5") and the 1x4 (3/4") 2-3/4 length with 2 flat washers and hex nut. Then put another below it going thru the end. That braces the leg fairly well temporarily. Then I put a "T" nut up into the bottom of the legs for a leveling screw. I didn't put that screw in yet, I put a screw-in caster in for now. As I am building, alying track and doing scenery, it has been invaluable to be able to roll each module around to get all around it. As it becomes necessary to fasten one module to another, I roll them side by side, remove the screws between them, use "c" clamps to hold alignment remove the two extra legs, and bolt through all to hold the two modules together, and maintain alignment. These two legs are then put on another module. I have 5 modules together now, and it still rolls away from the walls easy. Later it will roll into a corner, where I plan to use two hydraulic jacks and a 2x4 to raise the set of bolted modules up just enouch to remove the casters, and install leveling screws. The height is the same, but becomes very stable after leveling, and adding cross braces. Extra legs have been removed, so there is crawl space under for storage, wireing repairs or whatever. You saw the photo of my 33 stall roundhouse. That is the 5 modules so far. After all that, yeah, I do need another tall cool one! Your always welcome here Moose. Even if I'm not big enough to throw your lazy butt out, I could gnaw on your leg! [IMG]
