I'm pleased to announce that Jim Wiggin has coordinated with Railfan & Railroad Magazine and the Galesburg Railroad Days to bring TrainBoard a special 4 part photo challenge to take place over the next 4 weeks! The first three challenges will operate as usual except that the first place winner will receive a copy of Great Railroad Photography Premiere Issue from Carstens! The fourth challenge will be for "Best Photo from Galesburg!" Galesburg RR Days starts on Thursday June 23rd and runs til Sunday June 26th. This challenge will be limited to those who can make the Galesburg RR days, so if you're in the area mark your calenders! The winner of this challenge will also receive a copy of Great Railroad Photography Premiere Issue from Carstens! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is the second week of our 4 part special, and the new theme is Santa Fe! Surviving locomotives, equipment, structures and even Santa Fe inspired shortlines will be accepted. Entry deadline is Sunday June 12th. One entry per member. On June 13th, all entries will be voted on by TrainBoard members, as always, to determine the recipient of Great Railroad Photography's Premiere Issue. If you have any questions feel free to post and we'll get an answer as soon as possible.
Jim, that is what we are looking for, basically like an excuse to go out and get pictures of trains. I know there are a lot of great photographs from Santa Fe past, Emery Gulash is my favorite of photos and motion picture of the Santa Fe, but since this is sponsored by Railfan & Railroad, we want to see what is out there now. I know there are some great pieces in museums and even some old Santa Fe units still on the BNSF roster. Some examples: Caught on the C&I in Illinois near Chadwick Another patch, also on the C&I This sign says it all, but structures, even signals and of coarse depots. Caboose, freight cars, etc. There is still a lot out there!
OK, thanks. I had some of 3751 but they are old. Good luck, and I know there are a lot of Santa Fe survivors out there. :tb-biggrin: Therefore this one can't qualify, and I probably should put it in the Cutting Room Floor, but heck, if it ain't Santa Fe, I don't know what is. Taken at Railfair 99 in Sacramento, CA. *pre-merger photo, see Cutting Room Floor for image*
Matched Warbonnets on the Moffat Early January 2010, matched Warbonnets plunge into the icy depths of South Boulder Canyon at Tunnel 27 (below me):
I know I am too late but here is my pic-- BNSF 2642 south waits for a UP coal train to clear the switch at Camanche, IA. August 20, 2007.
How did I miss this? Caliente, December 1989. The ONLY true AT&SF photo here *pre-merger photo, see Cutting Room Floor for image*
Oops, sorry fitz and bremner, I realize things were a bit unclear (and that's actually the reason the poll has not already been posted today), but it was decided that eligible photos must have been taken within the past few years since the emphasis is on post-merger surviving SF equipment. I appreciate your participation, and they are both excellent photos. I will move them to the Cutting Room Floor so they may remain available for further observing and compliment.
Guys, sorry for the confusion. We have updated the rules for this weeks contest on the BN. Please, read the guidelines and post your New to Trainboard photos. I want to thank everyone who has posted and a very special thank you to Mark for helping head this up each week:thumbs_up:
There's 2 hours left on the poll! With the number of voters at only 6, chances are YOU haven't voted yet!
