Did the Milwaukee have this type of boxcar? My Color Guide suggests they had indeed cars from ACF, but I cannot find any reference to this specific type: http://www.4nscale.com/details.asp?p=13444 any thougths? Michael
I'll check through my collection. It will be a little later today before I can do it. If they had these specific models, my info should show them. Boxcab E50
Michael- Can you locate more detailed information, about that C&NW car that was linked? Door opening size? Door brand/maker? Underframe- Specific ACF style? Type of draft gear? Cushioning system? I have found two potential series of Milw cars, that *might* fit. Both built during 1969. However, my information does not specify sides such as "Precision Design." Boxcab E50
Well, well, .... let's see: the Milwaukee Color Guide Vol.2 lists a series 4400-4479 XP (page 55) as beeing from ACF, which has 6 ribs like the model, but the underside of the sidewall is different (straight vs. sloped on the model) My 1977 ORER lists the CNW car as beeing in series 155000-155099 with a length of 57', inside length 50'6". The doors are 10' wide and 9'10" high, has a capacity of 5095 cfeet and 154000 lbs. ..and thanks for the link...
Interesting that an ORER shows the 4400 series as ACF. As far as I can recall, they were built by PC&F. And if so, I was one of the crew that assembled their underframes on what was known as the "Old Car Line." My paperwork also shows them as PC&F- 1975. Boxcab E50
Hm. Not the ORER shows them as ACF, but the Color guides states .. well that they were fitted with somesuch device, made by ACF. Seems that you are quite correct. Which brings us to the question: Were there any ACF 50' boxcars on the Milwaukee?
A quick look shows the following 50 foot ACF cars: 2190 2191-2199 3500-3599 3900-3999. Not a lot. But they did own some. Info good for at least during teh late 1960's, early 1970's. Boxcab E50
