Does anyone have any experience in adapting European structures to American layouts? I have read that others have done this but with no specifics. I have several places on my layout where I am trying not kitbash the same old bunch of kits. There are but so many times one can kitbash a DPM system, etc. w/o it getting old. I have even read in the Walthers catalog where a kit can be adapted to American layouts. So... whose done this sorta thing and what experience did you have?
I took an old Heljan depot kit and kit bashed it to make it look a little more "Americanized." I simply cut down the upper story and made it look more like a sotry and a half, thus cutting off the tudor style walls. Here's a terrible picture with a loco in the way:
