I've been doing some research on advertising barns seen in Alabama and a few folks have suggested some ideas for some of the more popular examples. I don't have sufficient room on the layout to model an actual barn, so I printed off some photos, cut the barns out, and attached them to the backscene, to give some 'local' flavour to the layout.

Currently there are 4 examples in situ.

Well Jon, you did it again!

I wasn't too familiar wih the Alabama Appalchians but those "Mail Pouch" and "Rock City" barns are so typical of the mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee that they were almost iconic. Would imagine that such art-work easily made it into Alabama.

And, they're part of the back-drop.

Again, thanks for sharing your art with us.

Excellent work as always! My daily dose of inspiration has been fulfilled. I actually felt as if I was walking through.

Great idea. The way you've worked them into scenery via backdrop comes across really very nicely. They certainly do add a real flavor to scenes.

I,ve seen the MailPouch adverts on barns around Altoona Pennsylvania, very weathered and faded.
