I'm going to try and glue a Walthers Backdrop to pink insulation board.

Any advice about which adhesive to use?

I'll be interested to see what others say here too.

If it were me, I'd use a spray tacky glue, maybe Product 77 or whatever that 3M spray is. I am quite sure that ye plain olde yellowe glue or whyte glue would work reasonably well on extruded foam.

Don't use any of the silicone-like glues, such as clear Goop. I found that even though it spreads nice and thin, it also dissolves the foam.

If you do that, I'd thin it 50/50ish with water and apply it with a brush.

It might'nt hurt to do some thinning, although by doing that you increase drying time and/or decrease the hold of the resultant solid.

It wouldn't hurt to do a trial.

We have tried rubber cement, contact cement and Elmer's Spray Adhesive, but the results have been poor.

Anybody ever try double sided tape? I used a water based contact cement and the paper wrinkled, same with modpoge.

I've never heard of this being real successful. Artist's spray adhesive is somewhere between contact cement and rubber glue. It works very well on foam core, but that has a smooth surface.

How about double-sided mounting tape, the very thin stuff I've used to mount photos to matte board and foam core. The permanent stuff really sticks.

You could prime the surface first with water based KILZ. Then use something like spray mount. Or replace the back drop with a more porous material.
