I've been getting more into the molding aspect of our hobby and doing research on pressure pots for molding.

While putting in a new whole-house water filter something occurred to me :lightbulb: why not use this filter casing??

The casing I have says it's rated to 100psi.. plenty of pressure to mold with. They're not terribly roomy, but placed on it's side it could be used to mold cars, locos, and other small parts. I'd say with the gauge and various fittings the whole thing would still be around 50 smackers.

Has anyone tried this? ;) Or will I be the first?

For $39.99 you can order a paint pressure pot from Harbor Freight.

    Enter Item # [FONT=arial, sans-serif]93119-1VGA

It is much larger, more versitle and easier to use.
I modified mine to have a baffle on the inside right under the air inlet so the air flow is dispersed and does not blow my castings around inside while pressurizing. I also installed an air cut off valve on top and a quick disconnect fitting.

The baffel is a threaded brass plug that has some holes drilled into the sides of the "nut" end to allow air to shoot out the sides.

I edited my post above to show some photos I just took to ilustrate the modifications I did to mine. Just in case you missed that.
