It all started when I dragged out some of my HO locos, and thought about repainting and superdetailing them... Suddenly visions of Proto:87 standards with their finescale wheelsets and couplers flashed thru my head. Now my venerable old Athearn GP38-2 ATSF has been chopped up, and the body is currently soaking in alcohol to remove the paint, as I prepare a Cannon & Co. high short nose and long hood end. Soon it will wear black NS colors. What's next? Perhaps an 8-40C in NS? Or maybe an 8-40CW in CSX or CR? I have a Rail Power Products chassis with a Sagami motor and Athearn trucks, does anyone have ideas for modeling the standard narrownose cab for the Dash 8?
I believe Bachmann Spectrum made a C40-8, but I'm not sure. Best to check it out in eBay, or at a nearby train pusher.
