I have a pa f7 I think That is a AHN. It runs really nice but requires alot of power to run it is this normal You will find a pic that i am puting on here showing the power just to run it properly. I have toltaly cleaned and lubercated it. If I use one power pack it will run really slow the the power will just stop all together. But with two It ran perfect for 3 hours one night. Just wondering if this is normal.
    Thanks

There was a company named AHM - I'll bet that's who made your engine. Hard to tell if it's an F7 - is the nose (by windshield) flat on top? If so, I think it might be an FA2?

Some of the older AHM engines have motors that have carbon brushes, and sometimes they just wear down and degrade motor performance. I know of some guys that have used spray-on electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack to clean up the carbon scoring and gunk on the motor commutator, but use with caution and let it dry competely after application...

This engine was made for AHM which late became IHC. It's a model of Fairbanks-Morse C-liner freight engine. The passenger unit had a three axle truck at the rear. The motor on the model has a vertical motor over the rear truck, and is not very efficient by todays standards. But with cleaning and tuning can be made to perform acceptably.

Yep - I have a couple of the older AHM engines. One of them, a BL2, does seem to take quite a bit of juice to run, but it still runs fairly well!

If I remember correctly, the gears on those engines were plastic and prone to wear as they age, also get quite dirty. Clean the gear case and relube with quality plastic compatible grease may help with the current draw. Keep the brass wheels clean also, if they have corrosion it can cause excessive power consumption.
