I am about to airbrush my Atlas Classic RSD5 frame. It consists of the frame (with couplers installed) and the six handrail parts, all to be painted the same color (Espee Lark Dark Grey). Should I install the handrails and then airbrush? Or should I do them all separately and then assemble them? I do plan to paint the safety appliances, but I can do that after assembly. How do others do this? What is your opinion? Thanks.

Flash- I would assemble the handrails and then paint. If you paint first, you run the risk of paint chipping or flaking off while installing the stuff.

    Flash:

I would assemble the handrails and then airbrush the loco.

Same as Chuck and Bob. Assemble the handrails to the sill and airbrush then minimise the handling.

Any decalling can be done with the body and sill assembly separated.

Anyone used flex additive in paint used on handrails?

The Tamiya PC range has been harder to find of late. They usually resided in the same stand as the regular Tamiya range but with the new bottle sizing I have noted, it seems to have become specialist to the R/C guys.

But, it's useful for the white railing only in a majority of cases, unless you're a modeller of roads with black handrails or those that match the limited colour range Tamiya produces. I can't see them producing BN Green or Frisco Orange or SP Lark Grey specifically. ;)
