    Are these the Canadian verisons of C44's? I am not familiar with Canadian units or Alcos. :(

    Yup...thats it! Thank you very much for the photo!!!! I wonder why these never get the recogniton the DD40s do? I realize there weren't as many, but, still, they are just as "cool", if you ask me.

    Ah... One of my favorite ugly engines. :D
    Alco's other double-engine hood unit, the C855, never gets much recognition either. There were only three of them, too: two A-units and one B-unit.

    I've only seen about 1 really bad pic of that monster..the 855; and read almost NO info on it. I'd REALLY love to have an operating manual from one of those...or, the 643! Anyone? Anyone?
