Maybe you might ought to look at this page... it has some ideas that previously had been shared on the N-scale Kitbashing list at Yahoo! Groups...

Steve is an accomplished modeler and he has done a number of interesting ALCO/MLW units... the shots of the spliced shell are parts from the Atlas C630, the Atlas C424 and the Concor C636, and also gives an overview of what could be done for the Hi-Ad trucks.

    Hi
Thanks Jim for the kind words. Here is another view of the C-636. It is a BN version which is a little different from the others round the intake screens below the radiator on the RHS. I hope this and the other photos show how it goes together. Check out my Rail Images pages:ME Alco Gallery - RailImages.com[IMG]
What the photos don't show is the reduction in width of the Con-Cor shell parts used in the model. They are the black ones in the photos. THe model still needs Hi-Ad trucks which may be more difficult that the ones I ,made for my Kato SD-40 powered one. I know the Atlas SD-50/60 trucks will fit the C-630 chassis, but I haven't test run them to see if they will operate. If so, then the Hi-Ads can be made as in the Rail Images photo. The model as shown here still needs air/fuel tank work and the distinctive RHS blower duct.
    Have fun.
    Cheers

I had two of those Concor Alco 636s a long time ago. I'll look for a photo. I did find one Concor 636 on ebay for 99 cents. I presume it is good for parts.

I remotored these engines with nice Sagami motors but used the original drive train so they did not run very well. Wire handrails and Gold medal Models stanchions.
