The fun with demonstrators is that one can use them on any railroad! So far I have found only B&W photos of the prototype... and have done a search of the forum for any previous discussions... so I ask for your help. What are the colors used on Alco 1606, the RSD-5 demonstrator? I've attached a photo for reference. Thanks in advance!
Looks like a dead on match to the zebra stripes ATSF scheme. That was silver and black. I did a couple of them for a Trainboard friend. Striking scheme, simple as it is. Decaling was a nightmare, to line up all the stripes. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=94028
I am aware of the unit's history... and the silver stripes on AT&SF units (my dad was a big Santa Fe fan). If I remember correctly, the stripes also run a fair way up the side of the cab. However, I did find a color photo of a contemporary of the RSD-4/5 - An S1 or S3 with yellow nose stripes, but the stripe along the side sill is a solid line.
