Couldn't re-mount the 2nd traction tire so I cut it off. So far on level track w/o cars tops out
    at 94 MPH(40' 25.3 seconds). Hauling nine Athearns 72'(four lbs) 75MPH(40'33.3 seconds).

My Allegheny has lost traction tires. It doesnt seem to phase it. HOWEVER.. the darn thing has started jumping, stalling, jerking, and generally runs HORRIBLE.

Coincidentally, I have made arrangements w/ a local "shop" to mount sound and DCC in the thing. I intend to have them work on the engine and performance while there. It is a gorgeous peice.. .just dissappointed w/ engine jerking, etc.

Hopefully that will be permanently fixed.

I had that stalling/jerking problem with the 2-8-8-2 Mallet and attributed that in-part to insufficient electrical wheel base
The Allegheny has more pick-ups plus tender pick up so I'm surprised to learn that it has a similar problem.
According to Phil Walthers, the distributor for Rivarossi, the Allegheny carries a full one year warranty.
Should you need a copy of his personal reply to that issue, I can mail one to you.
