A few pics of N Trak Modules
Note: I asked Laura for feedback on the various modules as the "Grey and Grandure" will be expanding into the living room. It will be 18"s deep along two walls. The corner and end will be 32"s deep. Her responses were revealing.
    Stock Yard, (with Mirror):

Off to the right there were several buildings and more track. Laura liked this one because of the "Scenery / area" ratio. It was spread out and the buildings were low relative to the surrounding area.

    Farm:

Laura liked this scenery / area ratio but the track going around was "confusing".

"Erie Canal" with actual flowing water and moving boat:

While impressed with the achievement she made it clear it was "too busy" and there would be no actual water on the Grey and Grandure. Yes dear.

    Grain Elevators:

This was Laura's 2nd favorite. Even though the structures were tall they "fit" the space. She mentioned that I need to have more than "just blue" backgrounds.

The feedback was very useful to me. While I envisioned, (note past tense), huge mountains and lots of everything she is thinking "proportions".

No offense to anyone. These were just her responses from the perspective of having it in her living room, (when she moves in).

Steve, having been married to an artist for 52 years, I understand where Laura is coming from. She is envisioning a flowing natural scene with everything in correct balance. That is to say a typical New England scene will consist primarily of trees, a farm, stone fences, a small village, with a set of tracks running through, possibly with one or two sidings serving businesses in the town. A natural scene where the tracks are blended into it, not overpowering it.

Most (male) model railroaders will lay in lots of track running every which way, with a bunch of structures stuck into empty spaces. OK, so I exaggerated, but I think you see my point. There's nothing wrong with a layout that's predominately track, if that's what you want. Just don't expect an artistic significant other to think it's lovely and praise your creation.

BTW, you DID ask her for HER opinion, and she, being a forthright person, gave it to you..... :tb-biggrin:

    That I did Hytec.
My overall plan is to have scenery I can swap out. So, yes, a long open agrarian which can be swapped out for a more rugged industrialized view.
