Just an observation on my part, but it would seem that combining several forums into one has very effectively killed the NYC forum here (as well as the others).
Well, we used to have 5 or 6 regular contributors and the only one I have heard from lately, besides you, Roger, is Maurice. Yeah, I think it's dead. None of the guys were modelers.
That's what I noticed. I wonder what part modeling plays in following and contributing to forums like this.
I got to thinking about modeling and rail history. I began as a modeler and then suddenly realized that I didn't know what a railroad did. This led me to look at what I had always seen but not really looked at. I became a railfan and then a rail historian. Yes, I am still a modeler so modeling is not a no-no thing for me. To model it well, you have to know something about it. In fact, my railroad has begun a slow movement backwards in time to increase the amount of work the railroad does. If I stayed as a modern short line, I would have to model removed rail and I want active rails.
