    Thanks

Sorry I don't know of any in Beijing specifically, although I lived in Japan for a few years back during the Nagano Olympics (96-98) and there were hobby shops everywhere. I was told by the locals that hobby shops are prvalent in all of the east Asian countries, so I would think checking with some locals would probably help you out.

One day while walking to lunch, one of my Japanese friends said, "Let's stop by the hobby shop on the way back?" "What hobby shop?" On the way back he slid open the door on a nondescript storefront and inside was the biggest selection of plastic model kits and model trains I have ever witnessed. I think they had at least 5 of every item manufactured by Kato Japan!

Found this on TrainOrders.com in a post dated May 1, 2007:

"Best hobby shop in Beijing that I have found is called Echo Hobbies. I think they have a website. However they do not speak any English and do not except any non-Chinese credit cards. Cash only if you are a tourist. A HO Model QJ runs about $200, however they were out of stock in March. The SY model runs about $180. They only accept Yuan the local currency. Located near the 4th Ring road on the NE part of Beijing."

At least there's one lead that you can check out. I didn't turn up a website for them, but it may exist.

    Enjoy the olympics,

    Ed
