Any interest in a weekly video thread?

Russ Straws weekly photo fun thread is probably my favorite thread here and I know I'm not alone there.
But I like videos of model railroads too. Both watching them and making them.
I am going to buy a new/used digital video camera soon and the thought of a weekly or bi-weekly video thread crossed my mind. I think it would be cool to see some of the top layouts here in action...like Grampys trains, Jim Riesings Oakville sub, mikelhh, Scott Stutzman and Todd Treaster just to name a few.
Is the interest there? If it is , I will put one up and see what happens.

That would be great, but generally, I think you'll find that the number of videos produced week by week wont be enough to support a weekly video thread.

However there is no rule against posting videos to the photo fun thread. I know there have been many videos posted in the past.

There may not be enough videos right now for a weekly thread, but I think a 72 hour photo challenge would have seemed odd 20 years ago when film turn-around at a processor was a constraint. I say go ahead and start a video fun thread, maybe make it biweekly or monthly thing, and see what happens. You may even generate enough buzz that the volume will tip it into becoming weekly.

Jon Grant and Wolfgang Dudler are two more who make videos of their layouts and projects.

Thats what I was kind of thinking a bi-weekly thread until it catches on, then weekly. I got to get some new videos though.

We used to have a weekly run-by which was either a video or series of pictures of our models running by the camera.

I'd love to watch the videos. I've posted a grand total of 2 train videos in my years of building and running my layout. I find that the time I need to invest to generate a few minutes of video is just to much. Maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist about what goes on the screen.

Maybe a video and a run-by/roll-by thread combined?

    No.
I mean videos of a real layout in action. Not a tabletop temporary. I don't want to see your curtains and refrigerator.

    Wow.. Thats pretty rude. Considering
I don't have space for a layout.. That's what I have and I'm proud of it.

I think if you start a thread welcoming vids of the prototype and models that you will get enough to justify the effort.

I'll post but mine would be 15 second shots of Amtrak and commuter rail zipping past my window here.

I would enjoy a thread where video links could be posted. As others have said, don't think there would be enough for a weekly thread, but I am sure there would be enough to support a bi-weekly or monthly thread.

I just created and posted this video in the JACALAR thread, yesterday:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7vGcMChn9g

What I need to understand, and I just noticed, is why the video got "scrunched". It was 16:9 ratio, and the wmv file on my PC displays correctly, but the youtube video doesn't....

edit - found the tag I needed to add to the description to turn on the anamorphic stretching (this was not shot in HD, just 16:9, hence the need for the tag)
