I have noticed that the Norfolk Southern forum has had no new posts since Sept. 30. Is anybody still railfanning the NS? I do not live near any NS tracks so this is the only way I can keep up with my favorite railroad. Please post some pics or post some news of the Norfolk Southern! Thank you,
Mike, I used to post a lot on this NS board but there was a severe lack of interest. I will be happy to start posting here again even if it is only you and I interested Russ
Love the pics Richard. Russ, please post what you can. Even though I might not have commented, I appreciated everything you have posted in the past. I wish I could post more but as I said in my post that started this thread, I don't live near any NS trains.
You don't always have to be near NS to see them. I see some going through Pryor, OK in with UP lash-ups and occasionally going through Perry, OK in BNSF country. But alas, I never seem to have my camera when I see it... can't say I am a true NS fan, but I love to see power out and about where it typically doesn't reside.
Mike, You should be able to pick a day and find NS units all about in DFW....even solid consists. For example, in the past month or so I've seen... - two SOLID NS consists. One on the UP near Tower 55 and one on UP near Forney, TX. -a Hi-Hood NS SD40-2 in a BNSF Consist going across the Trinity Railway Express line in Hurst. -A single NS unit on ALL three BNSF trains I spotted within a few miles of each other on the Wichita Falls sub near Bowie. -A pair of NS units hanging out in Saginaw Yard on the BNSF. Just holler if you want to go NS hunting sometime!
I remembered that somewhere amoug the D&H photos on the DHVM one of them had a NS and after some digging I found it. NS#8023 with D&H#225 (GP38-2) From the Collection of Bill Weibel
I do see them occasionally around North Texas but like Beast, I usually don't have my camera or I am in a hurry somewhere and can't stop. I appreciate all the pictures that people post on this site and others. Doug A., I will take you up on that offer sometime.
Well, I tried to put up a pic but all I got was the dreaded red X...hmmm. If at first you don't succeed..... [ 27. October 2004, 18:35: Message edited by: Rule 281 ]
Yea, nice!! I wonder if that house is for sale in the background?? Rule, Where was this picture taken?
Pushers returning to Louisville's Youngtown yard. The Harvest Homecoming Festival was in full swing. What a great event, railfanning and food! 10/10/04 New Albany, IN I forgot to add, the bonus is that the kids want to go.
Thanks Mike - The pic was shot on NS's Ithaca Secondary along Cayuga Lake in NY. The train is empty hoppers coming from the power plant at the end of the line. Don't know if the house is for sale but there sure is a lot of really nice lakefront places up there, pricey but nice. The track cuts between many of the houses and the lake at so it's like cruising thru the everybody's backyard and beach at 10 mph. The scenery is usually exceptional in the summertime.
NS 111 Georgetown, IN 11/09/04 I believe only three of the units were online, the remainder were being brought in for repair.
