Hey guys, Anyone have good detailed log car that I can look at in HO, or the real thing??? If so someone please post a few or e-mail me some close ups of a few different types as well not all one type car... I want to make a short to medium sized log train out of scrat and do my own detail work..... THANKS ! In advanced..... I will post pictures when the first one is part of the way or completed all the way when I start...
Hi John, Only photo's of log cars in HO that I have are of the Roundhouse type, all I ever use friend. Paul
John; You might try joining the The Loyal Legion of Logged-on Loggers - a Yahoo club. Easily the greatest source of logging information you could find on the web. 4L Yahoo Club http://groups.yahoo.com/group/4L Good luck! Bill Clark Edson, Alberta
Thanks guys, its well appreciated!!! Anyone have or know of any real pictures of any ???? I want to model a few different types and so on... If so post them here!
John, I looked at all my pics of Mt. Emily Shay No. 1 pulling loaded log cars and the Mt. Rainier Scenic with empties. Not enough detail to help you I'm afraid. The ones with the loads hide the details of the cars. There isn't much to them, just a center bar with end pieces similar to those on log trucks. Paul Templar's pix are about as good as you will find. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Fitz, I do appreciate the effort though.. THANKS..... I've looked everywhere on all kinds of web sites for real cars to model from and all I get it flat cars with pulp wood ends. I'm looking for exactly what Paul posted as Skelleton log cars... trying to find the real thing seems like an unchartered slice of history..... History is what they are I guess As it seems I can not find any.... THANKS everyone though for the help!
well hmm, I should suggest www.neumedia.net/~cassrr/ they have a bunch of shays and stuff, I'm not sure about the flat cars. From the mid 50's through Cass's industrial shutdown in '65 they used flatcars interchanged from the C&O. [ 30 July 2001: Message edited by: A&A 6183 ]</p>
Paul, Isn't that whats called a "Disconnect log car" ? I was thinking of ones like that for a few reasons... To Haul larger logs, and make something interesting.... I specially like those type log cars being they are good for large diameter logs and make nice car none-the-less..... THANKS Paul. I was looking for pictures of one like that.. My only question is this.. When the logs were unloaded from them in what way did they connect to be pulled back empty to be loaded again???
