If you're a WABASH fan, this is where you should be! Sign in and let us know you're out there. You might just find that expanding your horizons beyond email reflectors can be an enlightening experience.
The WABASH had and has so many good features that historians and modelers alike can capitalize on......and THIS is the place to do it! [IMG]

Well Wabash One, you can count me as a "follower of the flag". Always liked the Wabash and always will. From the P1 steam locomotives to the Alco PA 1's, the Wabash had some of the most beautiful locomotives around, not to mention some of the best passenger service. Even Geeps looked good in Wabash colors! On the former Wabash line in the south suburbs of Chicago there are a recently repainted Wabash boxcar and caboose on display at the Metra station in Orland Park and they are a sight to see. When the Norfolk & Western got the Wabash as part of their system, they knew what they were doing!

    Hi CR,
glad to hear of yet another WABASH fan. I have to agree with you whole heartedly, the WABASH paint scheme was just about the sharpest around. If you've browsed through the forum, I hope you found the EMD cab unit that was posted. It is the restored # 1189 at the Monticello Railraod Museum, done up in the original tri-color livery, and it's a real class act! All the units looked great in that paint.
Have you ever been able to get pictures of the boxcar and caboose in Orland Park? If so, it would be neat if you could post them here. If you would like to, I can send you the procedures for posting. They would make very nice additions to the forum photo archives.
Did you ever get to ride on any of the WABASH trains out of Chicago, such as the Bluebird? Not only a beautiful train, but also domes on a relatively short run! But then, everything WABASH did was first class!
The N&W knew exactly what they were doing. If they had bought just the NKP, the value of their investment would have been diminished by the competition they would have received from the WABASH. It has been said, that the operational planners from the N&W were aghast at the speeds of the trains in the midwest. If they had slowed down the NKP, the WABASH would have had them for breakfast!
    Talk to you soon,
    BILL [IMG]

    Hi Wabash_one,
I would be willing to post the three pics that I did on the other sites, if you can tell me how. If you can transfer them from the other clubsite, that's OK with me, too.

Also, can you tell me the determining factors that made me a "fireman"?

    Thanks!

    John;

You are a Fireman until you make 10 posts on the site then you are an Engineer. Just call it "New Member" and "Regular Member" if you like [IMG]

To post a picture, you can use regular HTML tags or UBB Code. UBB Code is explained on a page with a link on any page where you post a message. It is very simple and can be learned in 1 minute.

If you don't have web space to upload images, e-mail them to support@trainboard.com and we will e-mail back with the UBB Code to make the pictures appear.

    Hi John,
glad to see you made the trip O.K. from the Wabash RR Club to TrainBoard.com.
We appreciate your offer to include your pictures. We need more of them here, especially the steam. Did you ever check out the Denver Public Library collection of Wabash photos? Mostly steam, so I know you'll really enjoy it. Have not heard from Justin lately. I posted the link for the 70T Wabash hoppers, but still can't find my 1962 Equipment Register, for the 55T units. Maybe someone on TrainBoard has one and will offer to look up the info for us.
    Talk to to soon,
    W-1
