Have any of you bought tickets to ride the 3751 to/from Williams, AZ, or to ride the excursion from Williams to the south rim of the canyon? Anyone planning to attend and chase? Anyone have any motel reservations in Williams, or had trouble getting them? Inquiring minds want to know. I'm toying with the idea of driving down there, 2600 miles round trip. Just wondered if anyone else is planning to go? [IMG]

When is it, and how much??? I'm not too far away, and I'll still be in Ely that weekend, so a run down to Williams, AZ would be a great weekend trip for me. Heck' I'd even sleep in the car if I had to!

Can someone send me info? Thanks in advance

Bob, I'm committed now, as my grandson Austin has signed on. Therefore my drive through Ely is out. The 3751 will take two days to get to Williams, arriving on the 21st, a wednesday. This is all part of the NRHS convention, of which I am not a member, probably the only steam org that I don't belong to, but they have decided to open it to the public. It will still cost you a $50 registration fee to ride. Coach fare for the 3751 Saturday trip to the canyon rim $149. Train leaves at 0800, arrives canyon at 1130. Three hour layover to tour canyon rim, depart 1430 and arrive Williams 1830. FOUR hours says runbys, meets, etc, as the GCRY is operating "business as usual".
3751 leaves Sunday AM on return to LA, running on the Peavine to Parker, then Monday to LA.
All that said, I got my tickets tonight by phone. Call Mozelle Baughman (pronounced Boff-man) at 1-928-635-4960. I also got reservations at the Holdiday inn and they said they are not booked solid, but because of the conventiion are pricey for those days.
    Look at CanyonRails

Oh, and I forgot, this is what it's all about, along with the GCRy 4960 (a marvel in itself) and GCRy 18. They also have some Alco FA's.

That's quite all right- I can understand being with your grandson. Gotta teach 'em the way it was, before it's all gone. That's why I had my boys ride behind number 93.

I may yet go down & at least shoot the 3751, and even ride behind some of GCRy's steam power (IIRC, the 4960 is ex-CB&Q). I'll shoot the FAs, but I'm more interested in the steam.
