I recently got a model of Athearn's new CF7 (round roof, undec) from Internet Hobbies today, thanks to their great sale on locomotives. (FYI, Internet Hobbies is one of Trainboard's advertisers, and a great bunch to deal with).

Does anybody else have a CF7 from Athearn? If you do, how do you like it? This will be my first exposure to the new Athearn drive, and I'm curoius as to how it runs as opposed to the most recent drive.

I see where there are several roadnames (mostly shortlines) offered, but I wanted an undec for my HO scale ONERail system to go with another CF7 I have, plus several chopnosed Geeps and some Alcos.

I have two in Santa Fe and I am very pleased with them. They are very smooth running engines. I believe they have bi-directional headlights. I have not run them for a while due to layout construction.

I have one, it runs great. It is a little light in pulling power and probably could use two or three ounces of lead to make it pull more.

Roger that on the weight. I've been thinking of putting some weight in the long hood, similar to what I've done with my RPP/Athearn kitbashed CF7 model (before Athearn bought RPP). However, it runs OK in MU with my other Athearn Geeps and Walthers GP9, so perhaps it may not be that big an issue.
