Hi, Just wondering if anyone has received the latest run of Scaletrains Tier 4 Gevos? How is the quality of the paint and details? I'm talking build quality mainly. Thanks, Ralph
I bought two from this run, and have four from the first run. No problems and no complaints on any of them. They are quickly becoming my favorite locomotive manufacturer.
Thanks for the reply, good to hear. Maybe your SP AC4400CWs are not to far down the road after Scaletrains release of their Dash 9-44cw coming this fall. Ralph
The locos comes with McHenry coupler. Change the coupler with MTL's and you have not problems. Be careful when unpacking from the box. The many detail parts break off easily. I've three TIER 4 sound locos and I am very satisfied so far. Have fun with your new locos.
Dogwood - What MT coupler did you find that fit? Did you have to modify the coupler pocket? I have some of the GEVO's from the first run as well as these. They all run and look great and typical of the real GEVO; the paint on this run is a slightly lighter shade of the BNSF orange. Brian
Hi Brian I've change the original coupler with MTL 1015 coupler. You change only the coupler shanks and the springs. Not the pocket. It's all. Try whether you are short shanks or medium shanks need. Thomas
I have 3 of the second run. Great detail specifics. They have different details depending on the road numbers. Look and sound great.
They are actually not McHenry couplers, but ScaleTrains' own coupler. Only Athearn uses McHenrys (because, well they own McHenry). I have two ET44s from the 1st run, and I have yet to have anything break off. I actually think they're much sturdier than they appear.
I had one piece break off taking the shell off. However, other than that, these are amazing locomotives. I have had no issues w/ couplers and they creep along at 1 on my throttle. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
