I saw a photo of an SD40-T2 on the Helm roster website that looked identical to this. The National roster has this listed as an SD40. BTW, the rosters I'm looking at are from thedeiselshop website. Thanks in advance.

It does look like a "Snoot" version of a Tunnel unit.

Spotting features can be tricky.... A unit rebuilt to SD40-2 standards can be in an SD40, SD45, SD40T-2, SD45-2, etc. body. The unit pictured probably is an SD40T-2 ( a tunnel motor unit ) but the leasing company could just be simplifying their roster, since it is still a 3000 hp unit.

    http://www.thedieselshop.us/HELM.html doesn't list #8391.

    Spotting features are almost pointless these days. A unit with an SD40, SD45, SDP45, SD45-2, SD40T-2 or SD45T-2 carbody can be designated an "SD40-2", SD40-3 or SD40M-2. A GP50 or GP40X carbody can be a "GP38-2". BNSF has derated some SD40-2s to 2500-hp "SD39-2"s. CSX is derating their SD50s to 3000-hp SD50-2s.

    NREX 8391 is an ex-SP SD40T-2.
