Yes, when MTL changed their website to java... it was really hard for everyone to collect information. They created the Media Pack to get around the problem. It deserves credit, they are listening to us. I know, I really do know. We were all waiting for a new GP35. This release will have far less monthly Birthdays... around the world.
Why does MT do so many odd ball cars? and it's not just in Z, N too. Someone said the blue GN covered hopper only has 4 prototypes! NKP aluminum boxcar, says right in the sheet: one of only ten. Has anyone seen one of those in a train? Cookie boxcar, only 47. I don't know much about them. Even as I go back through past releases there isn't much I want because they are mostly bright odd paint jobs. I want cars that look like they'd be on a normal train. I'll go back in my hole now.
Actually, only 3 numbers were known to exist in BSB... The Cookie Boxes were rebuilt for hauling bakery goods from a bakery on the D&RGW. Denver, SLC? I forget. I dunno why the do many one-offs.. Bright colorful trains are good for train shows. The kids love them. I like some of them too. But what I really like is staples, like 6 packs of boxcars with different numbers. Actually, I have way too many cars now. I have about 300 Z Scale cars and about 500 N Scale cars. About 70 N Scale locomotives, and about 40 Z Scale locomotives. I also have about 15 HO locos, and maybe 60 HO cars, plus tons of HO buildings and stuff. I really don't need anything else, but I still buy stuff. Why? Oh yeah, because I am a train guy! -Robert
Heh.. I have a modest collecton of Z stuff. So far 4 lokies, and about 20 cars. I buy colorful, since my wife likes it. My n scale is for the 'boring' unit trains, and multiple numbers.
Does this mean we'll see your radial roof boxcar in this scheme soon? I know there is a place for these cars. Hemi might take a cookie car, but there are just too many per month. I have the NKP silver boxcar in Z, it's probably going to be my first Z scale repaint
If I could just do a 4.58:1 reduction on that car, I would gladly add it to my roster. I already have the N Scale version! -Robert

Nice collection Robert. I have 130+ locomotives and maybe 400+ cars all in Z. There must be 200+ Buildings (12 from Lionel and 40 from Microstructures) and also a lot of other stuff. I bought many Laser and Brass Buildings and I think I must work the next 10 Years to build all this stuff. I think it's time to sell some of my european stuff. Regards Jürg
