Looks like an excellent locomotive and all that detail looks very impressive.

Good Gawd! That is absolutely stunning. Look at those wipers! Look at that detail. Man, why do I model late steam?!?

My pair arrived yesterday evening, and that's how good they look straight from the box. Pretty stunning :D

They even come with alternative MU cables in case your prototype has yellow instead of red, or vice-versa. I was impressed.

I made a few mods to mine which I think improved the looks further. The biggest single improvement was to paint the main frame sides silver (for some reason Atlas painted it black, and they did the same thing on the SSW ones which should have been grey) whilst I had that out I gave a very light coat over the trucks, which are silver plastic. There's a whole bunch of detail painting you can do on the cab front & pilot if you wanted, I can let folk know if they're interested.

Thinking of the newer motive power, I have a question. My girlfriend got me a set of Athearn C44-9W's in CSX for an early Christmas gift. What detail part plow fits these loco's? CSX had plows and all and the Athearn model doesn't have that detail. I want to add it to the 2 models. And what company has the best fitting plow for the Athearn C44-9W's? As Thanks in Advanced! :D

    Hey John:

Details West has some good plows for GE units--specifically for my C44s. Adding the MU cables etc with them makes a real difference! The first two listings are generally used by ATST/BNSF, but will probably look fine on CSX. The third listing is specifically for CSX--although I don't know how the MU doors are positioned. I made the mistake of not checking the MU door position and got the wrong ones for what I wanted at first. Hope this helps.

    Here are the parts numbers:
    PL-255 w/open MU doors ATSF/BNSF
PL-235 w/o open MU doors ATSF
PL-256 CSX (doesn't describe MU door position)

Walthers catalogue lists them with 235 in place of the PL so it would read 235-255, 235-235, 235-256 etc.... [IMG]

Even though I am an N Scaler, I have to comment on those absolutely beautiful B40's. If that is current "out-of-the-box" standard, Atlas have excelled! They are clearly the leader in paint and detail on RTR locomotives.

I hope the N Scale version is as good [IMG]

One of those puppies runs from $79.00 up depending on the vendor. List is $139.00.

They only come in ATSF BNSF and AMTK livery. The BW is an HO only offering.

Found them at a local dealer...picked up an Amtrak Pepsi Can...beautiful!!! Going to GATS show tomorrow, maybe I can find another one. When are the Heritage II painted ones coming out?
I also model in N scale...also hope Atlas does them in N.

    BNSF,
Thanks! I want to add on to my C44-9W's CSX. To give them that much more detail on the front, I'll see if the local hobby shop has them! and all and also see what 4 is going to run in price if they have them or can order them! and if not I'll shop around and see where the best prices are! :D THANKS again!

    BNSF,
THANKS again! I'll have to go and look for them in Walthers. I won't however oreder them from Walthers, They take to long and I've heard some nasty rumors about Walthers shipping itmens that never to this day received by the buyer... so.. I'll look other places for them and all... Caboose Hobbies has done fair with me and I will be a repeat customer so. If they have them thats where the plows will come from. THANKS again! :D
