Another little item that the L_3,L-4 had was an ashpan blower. When cleaning the fire on an H-5.6,10 You had to use a pipe connected to air or if it was not available a broom or anything to push the cinders toward the middle and into the hopper. With the L-3,4 you had a handle in the cab the opened a valve and blowed through pipes along the edge of the ashpan blowing the ashes into the hopper in the center of the ashpan . LEW
