Does anyone have any pics of the NYC's large roundhouse in Ashtabula, Ohio? It was right along West Avenue (Next door to the PRRs much smaller roundhouse!) and the "ghost" of it is still visible in satellite pics (and in person, I drive by there daily) all I have managed to find are some rather sketchy dimensional drawings showing the routing of water lines and hydrants for firefighting (it does show the dimensions of the supporting structures, though!) and that it had 40 stalls, and one postcard, that has a pic that may or may not be accurate. PRRs roundhouse is still here, I wish the NYC one was. From the remnants of its foundation it was gigantic. Never tried to scratchbuild a roundhouse (scratchbuilding structures is one thing I am actually proficient at) and figured it would be a fun one to try. Thanks, Amanda
I certainly don't have any photos of the roundhouse. I tried the Ashtabula Library but came up empty. Roger? Do you have any? :tb-sad:
I guess I will roll with what I have; an aireal photo from 1955 or so, a postcard from ground level with a wretched view, the "ghost" that is still there, and a set of prints showing the routing of firefighting lines. I cannot even tell from any of these what the roof looked like, doors, etc. but, I guess if I cant tell, no one will be able to prove the model wrong!
