I'm modeling an AT&SF heavyweight baggage car in HO scale, and am astounded to find out there is apparently no commercially available decal that says, "BAGGAGE", then below it, "RAILWAY EXPRESS", then "AGENCY", all in gold leaf. What I have found so far is everything but "RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY" in gold leaf by Microscale; the "RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY" is in yellow letters for an express car and so does not match. They do have "AMERICAN RAILWAY EXPRESS" in gold leaf available but that's not what I need. I have Microscale 87-1010, 87-1043, and 87-1105. This seems so odd because I would think that something like that would be quite common. What to do....(besides applying these 20 letters individually x 2 sides = 40 tiny letters)? Thanks! John
Yeah, we Santa Fe modelers have had to put up with the 1920's era heavyweight decals from Microscale for years. They finally updated their lightweight baggage car decals but so far about the only way to get good ones for heavyweight is to have custom ones made. I did that for N scale.
Thanks, Russell! This is exactly what I am looking for; I just contacted Rail Graphics for more information. John
Have you looked into Champ decals? Old stock, as Champ is kaput now, but I'm thinking they have what you need in a set. I don't remember if I hae the set or if I jusst thumbed through it, I was doing a model of ATSF 56 owned by INRD's Tom Hoback, and thought I saw REA stuff in delux gold at my LHS. They do mail order if you can find a pic of the Champ stuff.
