Since I am planning on the transition to DCC, I was wondering if the Genesis line is truely DCC ready ? Also, what are some of your thoughts/experiences with these locos and DCC ?
I picked up one of their 'Mountains', if you're not going to add marker lights, etc. they are dcc ready all you need do is plug the decoder into their 6 (8?)pin socket. You may need to purchase from Loy's or TTX-DCC an adapter plug, but that's all. Since I was putting in a SoundTraxx decoder, (much larger than regular decoders) that was not an option. I also installed marker lights on the loco and in the tender as well as a headlight on the tender. Wrote to Athern and here asking a few questions, got good answers from everyone and now it's all back together, lamps a glow'n and whistle toot'n. Oh, BTW I exchanged the yellow led for a white one, man is that bright, think I'll give it an india ink wash to dim it down a bit.
