Hello, This is my first post on this forum. I bought an older Athearn Blue Box a couple of weeks ago which has the metal truck sideframes. Last night, I was in the process of cleaning and lubricating the trucks and found that the wheelsets are out of alignment and wobble. The axle gears are in good shape, and I attempted to replace the iron wheels with NWSL nickel wheelsets I had available. However, when I installed the new wheels and snapped the truck retainer clips back on, they would not move. I tried sliding the wheels a small amount outward on the axle stubs, but this did not solve the problem. When the retainer clips are not snapped on and the truck halves held together, the wheels will turn. I suspect that the wheel faces are rubbing the outter part of the bearings. Has anyone come across this problem? Thanks.
