Well, i'm considering ordering all 4 road#s of these Chesapeake and Ohio Alco C-630's, but i can't get over the fact that Atlas won't issue these with the Hi-Adhesion trucks!!!!! I've heard the practical and business reasons Atlas had for doing this, but i feel kinda ignored and let down that when Atlas decided to release C&O and Reading without these very distinctive trucks installed, i began to wonder if Atlas figures we N-Scalers wouldn't care or notice or just learn to pretend these railroads never had Hi-Ads installed on them. Does anyone here believe we will see an after-market from Atlas or another company for replacement with Hi-Ad trucks in the future? Even with axle spacing an issue, could we get these trucks to look real enough to ignore minor deviations in order to use the same truck mechanims, gearing, etc? Berkmeister
Yah, just like this atlas N scale model with high adhesion trucks. If I can do it they can do it.Below is the thread on how it can be done. You need an old ConCor 636 for the sideframes and some Atlas SD50 or 60 trucks for parts. Good luck Alco High Adhesion Trucks - TrainBoard.com
Oldrk, now that looks mighty fine!!!!! I've never dived into that kind of work, but i know someone who might want to try this project. I do have one Con-Cor Alco C-636, Illinois Central, that i bought in the early '70s. And i'm sure i could get those parts from Atlas for the remainder of the project. What i'm gonna do with the other 3 630's is live with the tri-mount trucks i guess. I never have seen any more Con-Cor 636's at train shows or hobby shops, would you have an idea where i could procure 3 more? Thanks for the link and photo! Berkmeister
