Has anyone managed to get these to run consistently well? I keep getting them out, re-gauging the wheels, adding weighted trailers, but they still manage to derail every now and then - so they go back in their boxes again!. David Milburn (North Yorkshire, UK)
I have 5 of these and I do not have the problems that you describe. I do use microtrains couplers on mine and I only run them in the rear third of the train, as does the prototype. Brian
David, I have one of these, and I fitted it with a weighted trailer, and run it at or very near to the back of the train. It does make noises as though it is derailing, but usually stays on the track.
Brian or Alan or someone: I know this has been addressed somewhere before, but how do you mount MT on them?
They use the 'T' shank coupler which fits into the original box. The Microtrains website says # 1049.
I've also found it necessary to build-up the trailer pedestal some. The stock pedestal seems too short and trailers sit somewhat nose down. Some scrap styrene, cut to the same shape and glued on top, seems to do the trick. I only have one of these myself...makes me nervous as it jumps around on those switch points! Russ
