In addition to ordering some Tamiya paint, I also found some Micro Prep online and ordered it. Boy, from the "cautions", it doesn't sound like you should even be in the same room when you use it John
didn't notice any weakening. works just perfect. however, take care with micro-prep. both bottles i had dried out within days. seems like this stuff evaporates THRU the plastic bottle.
I’ve been using the Practa Racing Colors on handrails for several years with good results. Only hobby shops that handle R/C and slot cars seem to have it. My Blogs: http://www.n-scale-dcc.blogspot.com/ http://www.palisadecanyonrr.blogspot.com/ http://tokyo-in-nscale.blogspot.com/
I usually just soak the delrin handrails and bits in 91% alcohol overnight, air dry and paint as normal. Done it with Floquil, Polly Scale and recently with Tru-Color. Even my locomotives I painted 15 years ago still look fine with no chipped paint. The Pactra stuff is another line that Testors killed but Tamiya and now Duratrax makes Polycarbonite paint.
