I'm getting into 2-Rail O scale, but I need to keep things simple, so I'm using Atlas sectional curved track, and flextrack for the straights.

One thing that's kinda ticking me off is "tie compression" -- the ties on this track seems to have a tendency to bunch up near the middle of a flextrack section, and they don't seem to want to "uncompress" very easily, leaving several inches of "naked" rails hanging off the ends of the section.[IMG]

I'm wondering if I'm mishandling the track somehow, or if other people who have had this situation occur have a handy-dandy fix?

Interesting problem you have there. I'm doing the same thing, using flex for long straight track. I haven't had the compression problem you have and I've been storing my flex on end in my closet. Do you still have the end pieces that clip to the curved sections still on the flex. Once I clip the tie sections together the ties uncompress just fine. Do you store them on end or laying flat?

Sorry I couldn't give you any better answer but since no one else had responded I figured I would. Will you eventually keep the track down permanently? Once it's ballasted it should become a moot point.

Thanks for this feedback Greg. I think it was something that happened during shipping, like the box got dropped on its end, but only some of the sections were affected.
