Question: Are we facing a shortage of Atlas HO Scale Switches...AGAIN! Stubby headed off the hill to visit some of his favorite LHS's and couldn't find any Code 100 #4 & #6 switches. Honestly, I have no faith in our Chinese manufacturers and would like to see railroad products brought back to the shores of the USA. Heard tell our Chinese counter parts are starting to tell us....how things will be done. Not weathering that idea, well at all. Anyway, anyone else heard or experienced the same.
We also discussed about it in N scale forum. Paul from Atlas replied. It also mention to other scales as well. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?155805-Atlas-C55-per-Paul
I haven't bought any track in a very long time, but a fiend of mine did wish me luck in finding switches when it come time for track purchases in the future. Long-term problem?
Thanksgiving? Presidents Day? I said shaking my head. The Chinese factory workers slave away all year, probably for a yearly wage westerners would have trouble lasting a week on so I don't think we should deny them a holiday once a year. It is something that happens every year though and not something unexpected that crops up out of the blue so the factory managers and maybe Atlas depending on how much control they have over the manufacturing process should have planned for it.
Of course that's assuming they are getting a paid holiday, otherwise the holiday becomes a burden. Sent from my LG-P930 using Tapatalk 2
Either way it's something that should be planned for, or perhaps using it as the excuse for delays was the plan.
LOL Now look at what I went and started. Incidently they get two holidays that are similar and almost a month long each. Had problems ordering something early in the year, June or July (memory isn't clear) 2013. I scratch my head at celebrating Columbus Day which should be Indigenous People's Day and a another unusual holiday, but I best not be specific. Westfalen, might appreciate this. Let's move the manufacturing of model trains to Australia. That would help their economy out as well as ours and knowing the fine folk in that part of the world we might get some accurate, prototype train equipment. All in favor?
This isn't limited to China. Most of the large camera dealers in NYC such as Adorama and B&H close for a week once or twice a year for Jewish religous holidays. Just no merchandise available. Once you know about you can plan for it. Getting product from China seems a dicier proposition in any case though, no matter what kind of model item it is. Rick H.
