Here are some pics of a #1 scale Caboose I made for a customer. It is built in brass, with all the rivets embossed by hand with a rivetting press. The roofwalks are hardwood, and it has full interior and lighting (batteries hidden inside the lockers, etc.) The trucks patterns were made in brass, them moulded and cast in whitemetal, and are sprung (although they are actually freightcar trucks), and have rotating roller bearing axlebox covers.

    Alan,
NICE WORK! You sure are giving a new name to brass "Junk" Thats really detailed man! WOW Some Caboose.... I'm going to get a caboose kit thats a wagon top, for the B&O in HO scale thats NOT brass and detail it... I can't think of the name of the company that makes it... But their out of Canada and all and the Wagon Top cabs sell for $32.50 I believe... And thats the things with these cabs, they have only ever been made in Brass so... This is the only way to afford one and still pay a high price... But $32.50 is awhole lot better then $300 or more.... :D

    That's one sharp caboose!

Have you ever though of doing a how-to article, or did you take pictures & notes as you went along? Form what I've seen, it looks like you did an awesome interior job.

I seem to remember taking some shots of the caboose in various stages of building, but have not seen them lately. I think I may have given them to the customer who commisioned the caboose. But I should still have the negatives around. Must have a look when I get time.

    Alan,
WOW! I'll bet that's a heavy little booger! No wonder you model in N Scale, easier on the back!!! :D :D
I know a few people here in Utah that scratch in O Scale brass, but nobody brave enough to try #1. It is a beauty!! Scares me to think what the chap must have paid you!!
