I have heard guys ask if railroads still use a caboose. Well, here is one that is in daily service. I believe the train is called "The Rincon Turn" that switches customers between El Paso, Texas and Rincon, New Meico. It remains in pretty good shape..........
Agreed, nice to see a cab still in use - though blanked windows and the cooler on the platform argue it as a "Rider car" on the local switcher job to avoid run-around moves or long shove moves with crew hanging on car ladders. I know putting these cars back functionally on road trains would counterproductive in today's environment (2 person crews), but I do miss seeing them. I'm a steam-era guy, myself. Bob C.
