This goes way back. When I lived in Ada, OK in 1956-64 there was a depot with the ATSF name and emblem. I can't remember if trains operated while I was there. It seems that it was a dead end branch and maybe connected at Purcell to the North/South line that ran thru Oklahoma (Wichita-Ft. Worth). Does anyone know the years this branch operated? When it ceased operating? I go back to Ada and the depot bldg is still there but no tracks. Walter Boatner Gadsden,AL
I know almost nothing about the Santa Fe. But just for fun, I grabbed my 1939 Official Guide. It shows 27.9 mile branch line from Byars, OK, to end at Ada. With a daily mixed train out of Pauls Valley. Still shows in my 1959 O Guide. Some small help? Boxcab E50
1959, ok, so I probably did see ATSF locos. Must have been tri-weekly or some such sparse schedule. I remember the other two railroads. the Frisco and the OCAA (Okla City, Ada, and Atoka). Thanks BoxcabE50 Walter Boatner
