AH-HA! SUCCESS! finally read through the whole thread! well, skimmed and watched the progress. Jerry, you really are capturing the look of your prototype, and all the little details are things you don't notice unless they aren't there you've added beautifully, your layout is looking awesome!
Here's the area in front of the road with the dirt down. (Still wet.) This area is going to get a greenhouse and some rows of veggies growing. The real one is actually farther down the road from the bridge, but....'close enough!' The tuffs will continue around the hill on the right, and down the road a little more. I will post more photos when I get more tuffs down later this week.
Jerry, I have had many instances where a glues and epoxies have not dried/cured when used on boats in high humidity conditions. Unfortunately I can't remember the brands or types because we haven't had a boat for more than 10 years. With your train space open to the outside, you will have high humidity during the summer, especially with your area's mandatory afternoon thunder-bumper.
Yea, it seems a few 'tuffs' I may have sprayed a little thick dried but had white haze to them. I just did a few more and sprayed a little lighter. Will check when they dry. The humidity has been so high it has caused a fog in the morning and at night! LOL
Consider that there may be a little ground frost remaining on and near those tufts that are shaded from the morning sun. If anyone asks, just tell them that you modelled an area that represents early spring around 9AM. If they don't accept, show them the exit, without benefit of beverage and supper......:tb-tongue:
Got some pictures downloaded and will hopefully post tomorrow after church. PS....seems lighter coats is the way to go in high humidity.
OK, got some photos resized. Here is a look at the progress on the road and tuffs around the hill. ATSF access road added on the left on the embankment. Going to have a couple posts and a cable and no trespassing signs on this area.
Looking at the first photo....I really need to get a backdrop up! LOL But I need to keep it open right now for access. Hopefully it wont be too long I can get one up.
Gee, I thought the blue structure in the back of the first photo was an Art-Deco water tower. You are modeling a location near the art colonies of San Francisco, after all......:tb-tongue:
Amazing what you are doing with this layout. World class work! Thanks for letting us follow the progress. Mark
