I hear that! I worked a midnight yard engine for 3 months, amazing how much modeling I got done with 16 hrs off each day, plus 2 rest days a week. Being back on the extra board, I have a little time in the middle of the week when the board is slow, but that's it
Hello Jim, I am using the Woodland scenic plaster rolls. I have a couple rolls I never used that were in a box of scenery material and figured now is a great time to dig them out.
I have to stop here untill I get the backdrop in place where the tracks will be going through, then add more hills to the backdrop and blend with folage/trees.
Looking Eastbound, I started the other hill too soon. Instead of a couple inches, it should have been a couple of feet....so, while the plaster was still 'wet' I just pushed down on the top, gently, and kept doing that till it looked right. It cracked in some places, but it will all be covered in the second coat of plaster and smoothed. This is the before picture. And after: Much smoother transition, and closer to the real area:
Oh absolutely!!!! SP steam has some of my favorite styles, and the Cab Forward is definatly one of them.
Right on! And then we'll send them to Randgust to go over the Arizona mountains, and on to GoSteelers for the final run in Chicago
Rember that Verne Niner, John Sing, and I did that with the Santa Fe Trainmaster. It toured all three layouts, and we made an attempt to match trains in the photos - at least reasonably close. I'm game when you are....
Yes, that was a great tour with the Trainmaster! I still love the pictures with the cop. We will definatly have to get an across the system train going. Piggybacks should be easy to match. Power will be up to the different Districts.
Gee, I was kinda hoping for a cross-country jaunt of the Super C behind one of your bicentennial SD45-2's..... Do we really have to wait for IM to ever get there? In all seriousness, there's the train. You'd need to match trailers and basic MT TTX flats on the front for photos. That Bicentennial SD45 scheme is the lead unit! I hand-painted an Atlas SD45 many years ago in that scheme I like it so much. Long-since gone, but there's still a big soft spot there.
Jerry, Put two heap teaspoons of coffee in a quarter cup of hot water and brush it on the plaster will give it a good colour like rock
