Hi All I would like to ask another question this time about the ATSF RS-2 2099 from a previous research I understand that this loco was a unique and only diesel of this kind in the ATSF and an ex ALCO demonstrator 1-which side was its front runner the long or short hood ? or does it really matter prototopically talking ? 2-is there a way to know when this locomotive was re-painted from a zebra stripes livery in to the blue/yellow pre-1972 paint scheme ? thanks for your reply
As you can see from the small letter F beside the step, the short hood was considered the front. Most of the photos I've seen of 2099 and the similar, except for 6 wheel trucks, RSD5's show them running short hood first so I assume that was the prefered way if turning facilities were available.
