Hello, this is a shoot of the AZL PA/PB/PA and a Marklin Streamliner set with LED Lightning. Notice the Observationcar with the 3 small red lights (Fiber 0.01 inch). The job was made by my friend Oliver Passmann. If you need more information feel free to contact me. P.S. more images coming on sunday Regards Jürg
The AZL's are very nice. Too bad they are so expensive. I also like the lighting on the streamliners. Are you working on a interior also. That would look so cool. Sorry, I am beginning to sound like my children. I think all passenger cars should have lighting. My Surfliner has a interior, but you cannot see it because it is so dark inside. The Ice-3 has nice led lighting, but no interior. Well, look forward too seeing more pictures.
Jurg, according to triplex list, there is only fifteen different AZLs made. Seventeen AZLs are pretty impressive. Does anybody have more then seventeen. I only have four, but two are plastic.
I have 17 AZL Locomotive, not 17 different styles. The Dallas Tre and the Amtrak are plastic (but still AZL). I have 4 C44-9s, 1 Set PA/PB/PA, 3 SD40-2s Tunnelmotors, 1 SD40-2 Snoot Nose, 1 SD40-2, 1 GS3, 1 SD-45, 1 AC-12, 1 Amtrak West with Surfliners, 1 Dallas Tre. Regards Jürg
Maybe we should change the tread to how many AZL do you have. I have a CSX SD40-2, a C44-9 that is being repainted into a CSX, a set of Surfliners, and TRE engine only. Also, I have one SD70 on preorder. By the way, did you install he lighting yourseld, and what parts did you use. I think this something we can all use.
The light was installed by Oliver Passmann (www.passmann.com) but he sells also kits. He is out of business until june because of his health. He is really a nice guy and can install almost everything (LED Lights, DCC, and soon Smokegenerators). He installed Fiberoptics (0.01 inch) for the redlight on the observationcar. Soon I will show some close up's. Regards Jürg
Me: "My name is Bryan, and I'm an AZL-aholic." You: "Hi Bryan" Me: Yes, I have a problem. I'm addicted to finely crafted Z scale locomotives made by a certain manufacturer with 'American' in their name. I admit that I am powerless over this addiction, and I am here for support and understanding. I am not interested in overcoming this addiction, however, unless it threatens to bring me to financial ruin. I'm not QUITE there yet. I have: 1-NS C40-9W 1-CSX SD40-2 1-Conrail SD40-2 1-Sounder Set 1-GS3 and articulateds 1AC-12 CabForward I am anxiuosly awaiting: 2-NS SD70 1(or more)-CN SD70i Ok, maybe I'm closer than I think..........
Check out the following link: http://www.ztrack.com/AZL/AZLLine.html It is a listing of every AZL release and roadname. It also lists my inventory (as the Distributor for AZL). I think you will be surprised by the variety of locomotive types and roadnames released. Some of the roadnames are rare. The Kodachrome F45 is one that comes to mind. Rob
Rob, what is the reason that AZL only produced 10 EMD F45 Kodachrome, 12 EMD SD45 Milwaukee Road, 9 EMD SD40T-2 Union Pacific and also just 15 EMD SD40-2 Snoot Noses??? They could sell more of this Locomotives but they sell out fast! Why does AZL not re-released some of the sold out Locos? Regards Jürg P.S. "AZL-aholic" (formerly know as Bryan) you have also a nice collection!
It is all based on a best guess. When AZL looks at producing a particular roadname, they look at the popularity of the real roadname. They also look at how many locos of that type of locomotive a roadname had. For example, UP ran very few SD40T-2s in their paint scheme. Most were patched Rio or SPs. For that reason, AZL only offered a handful in the UP version. These did sell out fast. We were surprised how fast the Kodachromes sold. The Milwaukee was the correct number released. These did not sell out right away. Up until a month ago, a dealer still had one in stock. Will AZL rerelease roadnames? At this point no. AZL would rather move on to new releases. In a way, this is good since it adds value to the brass releases that are sold out. This does not apply to the injection line which we will see rereleases and different variants over time. Rob
OK, this are good arguments against a re-release. So we all wait for the announcement of a new Steamlocomotive. Regards Jürg
Gordon, You may want to check with Original Whistle Stop in California. Phone number (626) 796 7791. I was going through our records and I found that they had one of the BNSF Heritage II in stock a while back. Rob
If my memory serves me right, the Original Whistle Stop is where I purchased my BNSF Heritage II in February of 2004. It was the last one they had. They told me someone had been in the store a week earlier and had them test run it but the guy didn't buy it. When I heard this I told them "SOLD"!!!!!! Rob, it is possible the BNSF Heritage II you are speaking of is sitting nice and comfy at my home! Gordon, Repaint!!!! I myself want 2 more C44's. One AT&SF to re-paint into a BNSF War Bonnet and another to modify with styrene and new brass handrails to create one of those new 44's with the "Swoosh" logo on the side! Tim
