Robert, They are nice! The Amtrak West is by far the most popular. The Sounders also have done very well. The TRE though are on pace to be one of the most popular releases. The paint scheme really stands out and makes it special. I expect the module guys from Texas to be running these during the NTS. Rob
I am getting the shakes from not buying anything in a month. so, the TRE is beginning to look awful good to me. Does the TRE have the strobe when it goes backward?
I don't think it has a strobe, as I have the Sounder set and the Surfliner set, and none of them have strobes. As far as having to buy something, I do recommend at least getting an engine, if not a full set. These locomotive are smooth as glass and heavy as a brick so they can pull like a mule! I bought 2 engines with each set so I can DCC one, and leave the other DC for total layout compatability. -Robert
Robert, I used to have the Sounder set, and mine had the strobe in it. Try to run it backwards without the shell. Its easier to see it that way. I currently own the Surfliner set and easily my favorite engine, but I dont like to see a Amtrak engine hauling freight. That is why I would like to get a second engine to do just that. I think only the Amtrak engines don't have the strobe.
